At MSF, all the instructors made a good point: if the cage drivers don't see you, it is YOUR fault! Car drivers look for other cars (or bigger)... it is just natural. They look right at you but don't "see" any meaning in your shape. This is why optical illusions work. (How many of us have become better/more observant car drivers since we started riding? I submit that it is because we have "re-learned" how to see!)
Anyway, the point is that YOU have to MAKE them see you. This is why they say to wear bright colors, put reflective stickers on, etc.... Take responsibility for making yourself noticeable (personally, I like the "drill out your muffler" solution) and you might just save your own life!!!!
